“A crazy thing happened — the very act of doing the thing that scared me undid the fear.” Shonda Rhimes
On Wednesday, September 5 I did a presentation for the American Association of University Women at UNT. I didn’t want to throw up. I didn’t have a panic attack. I didn’t stutter at all. It was a complete surprise, but introducing myself and teaching a topic to a group of 15 strangers wasn’t scary. Actually, it was pretty fun.
“Life is short, and it’s up to you to make it sweet.”
I can hardly believe it! Working, reading, writing, and spending time with my family made my summer go by faster than it ever has before. I took great care of myself and had the time and motivation to do some much needed self-exploration. I’m excited to share all of that and more with you.
"Don’t sit down and wait for the opportunities to come. Get up and make them.”

I'm excited to contribute a guest post to JLV College Counseling, a wonderful website and blog focused on college preparation and scholarship searches. My piece gave some advice about how to start a planner as a student, and it was recently published. I love my planner, and I'm happy to share that passion and enthusiasm in a way that might help fellow students!

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
The National Conference for College Women Student Leaders was amazing! I met so many driven and passionate individuals, and I got the opportunity to network with some amazing community organizers from across the country. I wouldn’t have given up the chance to go to NCCWSL for the world, and I’m excited for everything this conference will lead me to!
I'm so excited for the arrival of NCCWSL in just 1 short week. I have every session planned out. I have copies of my resume and business card ready to hand out. My daily outfits are slowly coming together. And I'm getting in touch with other girls across the country who will be attending the conference as well!
The last step is to raise the last $95 that I need to pay for transportation.
Through the generosity of family and those on the YouCaring donation page, I was able to pay for the plane ticket! The final step is raising the last bit of money to get to and from the airport. My hope is to not have to worry about finances during this conference. Please feel free to donate HERE and share my donation page. This is the final stretch, and I know we can reach $300! I appreciate the support that I've already received, and I'm hopeful that the same giving spirit will push me past the finish line.
Keep in touch on my donation page and this blog to read about what I learned from the conference when I return in June!
"When I dare to be powerful - to use my strength in the service of my vision - then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid."
This past week I spent 6 days in Bridgeport, Texas attending a LeaderShape Institute. I learned about my passions and values, how to develop a vision, and what it really means to be a leader in your community. I doubted it before, but it really was a transformative experience that changed how I view myself and the people around me. So much happened in one short week, but I hope that the change I saw in myself and the connections that I made will last through the summer and beyond!
The National Conference for College Women Student Leaders is only 3 weeks away and I still need help fundraising for transportation! Keep reading if you want to know what NCCWSL is and what I'll gain from it, and don't forget to donate!!
***UPDATE BLOG POST: $95 TO GO AND ONE WEEK LEFT!***
"Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher."
I spent the past weekend in in Houston at the Texas state conference for the American Association of University Women. I attended as a student affiliate representing UNT, and I had the pleasure of going through the Young Women’s Task Force track on Saturday. I’m so excited to share the awesome experience I had!

That means I won a senate seat for the upcoming school year!
